War Classics

At Love's Door ( Erotic Verses from Kalingathuparani- A War Classic in Tamil)
லா ச ராவின் சிந்தா நதியை The Stream of Retrospective, கு அழகிரிசாமியின் சிறுகதைளை Gift and Other Stories , ராஜம் கிருஷ்ணனின் வேருக்கு நீர் என்பதை Water for Roots எனவும் ஆங்கிலத்தில் படைத்துள்ளார்.
‘’ ..fifty four rhymed stanzas each of which captures the mood, the music and the message of the situation. What makes the section the rarest of its kind is the magic of the rhetoric employed, capable of an alluringly suggestive symbolism and a symphony of word play enriching the structural beauty’’

Love's Stir
You stir out of bed like a peacock rising
your tireless falling in a cascade musing
your anclets moaning their notes craving
your lips mumbling the nothings inviting
All this for whom?
He is back. open your door

The Gait of Kaviri
So queenly is your nimble gait
Like that of Kaviri flowing full to her sides
Bearing the fresh yield of the flashy carps
And the blooms wild of the wayside bushes
With bees humming sound.
He is back.Lift your latch let him in.

The Knock
The knock on the door. He is back
You arise from your dreaming treat
Your face aglow with passion
Your hands one hastening to restore
the fragrant hair in its cascading disorder.
The other hurrying down
in search of the missing clothes to cover the naked glory
You rush to the door and abandon yourself to his waiting arms.
o that it were not a dream.
Why then this folly when he is here right at the door? Open the door

All that Violence
What ecstasy was all that violence?
He did to your breasts during the act of love
In guarded privacy you slip off your clothes
And relive that bliss regarding all the nail marks he made
Does this mean dislike for love?
He has come. Open the door

38
The Ruler of the Heart

All His Faults
Revengeful and angry you remember all his faults while he is away at war.
But then the moment you see him back you soften and give in.
So week a will has ever been yours.
Here he has come. Open the door

57

The Refuge
Bees bewildered take their refuge
in your locks dark dense and fragrant.
They leave their perch lest it should burden your slender waist,
but in no time return for want of a haunt.
Irresistable is your charm indeed.
He has come back. Open your door
